Does anyone know how I might go about treating an ear infection in a German Shepherd without first resorting to anti-biotic ointments?......perhaps a natural home remedy I could try out and monitor first.

Can also try 1/3 Iodine and 2/3's mineral oil. Mix well. Use a clean swab or cotton ball to clean the ears. Do not let run all over the place. Remove excess. I use twice a day to start, then once a day then every other day etc. If no improvement in a few days = ck with your vet. I have seen nasty infections cleared up with this remedy (from a vet in NYC). If the ears are filled with puss and yellow fluid, smell really bad - don't treat at home. Take the animal to the vet for complete ear cleanout. We used to use Weladol and warm water - pet was asleep while we did this.
