I have four dogs. I live in a large house with a large yard. two dogs are Jack Russell terriers, one is a toy fox terrier, and the other is a rat terrier. The alpha is/was the rat terrier (Sprink). the other bitch is a Jack Russell Terrier (pipi). Sprink is fixed and was the first dog. she is the oldest and we got her from an animal shelter as an adult. Pipi we got from a breeder as a puppy. pipi is a wonderful dog and get along with all the other dogs. She even get along with the toy fox terrier who weighs in at 4 pounds. The problem is that Sprink doesn't get along with Pipi. since pipi went into her second heat they have been fighting it out all the time. I thought I would just let them work things out them selves but the fights were brutal. Sprink has been chewed up so bad she needed stitches.I even made the mistake of trying to pull them apart and got the hell bitten out of my hand. There is only two ways we can keep the peace. A) I stand over the dogs with a 2 x 3 sheet of plywood to separate them when they start in. B) keep sprink behind a gate when pipi is out.
