Question: With increased accountability for doctors, do alternative health-care providers get let off the hook?
Answer: There is less accountability for alternative health-care providers. Increasingly, people are turning away from traditional medicine in favour of complimentary or alternative treatments so we need to keep an eye on this.A good alternative healthcare provider is a qualified person who can identify, diagnose and treat a patient equally well. He/she may not be able to perform surgery or any other specialized work that a surgeon or a specialized doctor can perform. An alternative medicine practitioner should not treat herniated discs nor a slipped disc case. It is for the orthopedics. If diagnosis is done correctly, and if the patient can be treated by alternative medicines, then there is no risk to the patient nor there is any question of accountability. Please do not malign the profession of healing, whether conventional, or alternative. It is the results that matter most.
