Question: Is she a doctor? I need your comment and opinion?? Ruth M. Rojo, N.D., Ph.D. first earned her Ph.D. in Nutrition inJanuary of 1996 with a 4.0 average from the American Holistic Collegeof Nutrition, Birmingham, Alabama. She succeeded with 4.0 and HighHonors - Doctor of Naturopathy from Clayton College of Natural Health,Birmingham, Alabama, in December of 1996. Also in December of 1996 shestudied Spirituality and Healing in Medicine with the Department ofContinuing Education, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. Notes: her eduation is from distance education In August of 1977 she became a member of the American NaturopathicMedical Association. She was awarded the coveted once-in-a-lifetimecertification as a Board Certified Naturopath by the Board of Examinersof the American Naturopathic Medical Certification and AccreditationBoard, Committee of Naturopathic Medical Education, Washington, D.C.,September 17, 1997. On October 2, 1997 she became a registerednaturopath by the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs,Occupational and Professional Licensing Administration, Washington, D.C.
Answer: I don't think there is a national standard for whether or not anaturopath needs to be certified as an M.D. She is not an M.D. She is a Naturopathic Doctor. Each state has its own standards ofwhether or not a person can call themselves a naturopath, but anybodywith a PhD is a "doctor". But its a doctor of philosophy, not ofmedicine. Personal opinion -- an M.D. is worthless. The pharmaceutical companieshave bought them.
