Is there any home remedy or some sort of first aid for Herpes?

I had developed symptoms of herpes, but i could not visit a doctor immediately as it was not possible for me for some reason. I visited after 3 days. But mean while I could do nothing but just make sure that the blisters dont get burst. At that time i was wondering if there is any home remedy that will at least keep the pain away till i actually start a treatment.
