I am curious...what *exactly* is rhus tox....what is it made of, and how? Rhus Toxicodendron is a Homeopathic remedy.It is made from the dried and crushed poison ivy (or oak) plant. An equal amount of crushed plant and sugar are mixed together, then shakenvigorously for a predetermined number of times. This 'shaking' activates the vital (healing) energy of the remedy.Then the mixture is divided in half and an equal amount of sugar is added to each (divided) mixture. Then they are again 'shaken' a predeterminednumber of times. This process is repeated many times, every time the mixture is separated, sugar added and mixture 'shaken' , causes an INCREASE inpotency! (One would expect the opposite to be true, but it's not). The mixture is divided as many times as it takes to produce the correct 'dosage' of aremedy. Example: A remedy labeled 1 M has been divided, mixed and shakenvigorously for precisely 1000 times. When a remedy has been divided just 30 times (called a 30 C dosage) there is usually no visible evidence (no remainingmolecules) of the original plant with which one began the process. This makes it an extremely gentle, as well as safe, method of healing.And why is it supposed to stop itching? I am truly interested in the theory behind this, always like to learn about new things!The 'theory' behind Homeopathy is this: Like cures like. What this means is that if one has contact withthe plant (poison oak or ivy) or has these same symptoms (itching, burning and redness) as a result of a different disease (such as Herpes); if onewere (after exposure) to then take the correct dosages of the remedy "Rhus Tox." - well, one will be cured of the disease and the itching, burningand blistering would simply and miraculously disappear! (YES, this DOES mean that there is the potential to be COMPLETELY cured from Herpes with theremedy Rhus Tox.! Pretty exciting possibility, huh?)! (If a HEALTHY, DISEASE-FREE person were to take the remedy Rhus Tox, itwould eventually 'cause' the same symptoms: itching, burning and blistering.) When the Homeopathic remedy Rhus Tox (or Poison Oak) is employed (usuallytaken sublingually), by a person suffering from an outbreak, the symptoms of the remedy cancel out the symptoms of the disease! I've used it myself,dozens of times to cure the itching that comes with the Herpes outbreaks as well. It is important to realize that ANY disease which creates the same kind of 'itching, burning and blistering' that a poison ivy/oak outbreak would cause, would be de-activated (cured) by employing the remedy Rhus Tox. Answer: Ok, people with herpes need real medical help, not this nonsense. Whenpeople are suffering, they are vulnerable to false hope that this promises.I am not trying to flame or insult here. I just want people to know thatthere is nothing scientific about homeopathy. The virus that causes herpesis REAL. It can be seen, tested for and researched, in a scientific manner.Homeopathy is nothing but a multi-million dollar (billion?) a year scam.When it works, it is because of the placebo effect. Don't waste your timeor money, you will only be heartbroken and poorer as a result.

The problem with homepathy lies in its contradictory explination of how itsupposedly works.In the example used by xs10sual, Rhus Toxicodendron is the agent that issupposed to be effecing your simpoms in a positive way. Well the dilutionsused in the making of homepathic remidies result in a product with NONE ofthe active ingrdient left in the product. The claim is that the "energy" or"spirit" remains. Well this is a bunch of poppy. The symptoms ofhepes are not the same as that of poison ivy. Similar in some people, butnot the same. The symptoms of herpes are caused by a virus that infects thecells of the skin, (and nerves), and causes the skin cell to make many newviruses and finnaly the skin cells break and shed many more virises.
