Question: What is Holistic Medicine? After I had my son, someone told me that I should go to a holistic clinic and get treatment for weight loss. She then explained that I would get little metallic objects put in my ear, neck, and back. When I start losing weight, then they put these "points" in other areas to help with the excess skin. I then need to excersise and follow a very strict diet that forbids any carbs and sugar (including fruit!) Is this similar to accupressure/accupuncture? IS this a safe way to lose weight?
Answer: I've never heard of this "diet" you're on. I CAN tell you that holistic medicine is a type of "alternative medicine." It's an alternative to using medications that doctors hand out like candy. They try to get to the root of the problem by using magical potions and pellets. They actually help a lot of people, and holistic medicine is becoming more and more popular. I believe those "points" are similar to acupuncture. When it comes to losing weight, I believe it's all about calories and exercise. And that would definitely include fruit! And carbs, for that matter!! Good luck, whichever route you choose to take. The holistic way would be safe, but effective?.... I don't know. Interesting question deseves a star!
