Question: Why are no double blind studies attempted? Written instructions could be given describing mock, or real TT. The practitioners would follow instructions not knowing whether they were real, or mock TT. The healing effects of the two groups could be compared to see if the 'real' TT practitioners became more effective than the mock ones. Simple to implement double blind study. With some thought better double blind experiements could probably be invented. Why are all the TT experimental data from single-blind experiments?
Answer: The biggest advocates of TT have made it clear that they are not interestedin controlled studies designed to prove the existence of the HEF. Thefundamentals of TT are such an obvious sham that it should be surprisingthat anybody takes it seriously. But it is a pattern seen so often in socalled alternative medicine. It is political in nature and only serves todeepen the chasm between alternative therapy promoters and detractors. TTisn't the only therapy in this state. Facilitated Communication advocatesallowed themselves to be tested and the basis of the therapy was found to bewholly bogus. Last I checked, though, it was still being taught inRochester. People who consider themselves advocates of alternative medicineshould distance themselves from nonsense like this until the promoters comeclean and permit testing and agree to act on the results.
