Since they are now being treated in a "holistic" centre you can bet thatthese extremely advanced cancers are the end results of alternativetreatments. I had some like this in my practice in patients eventuallyforced by relatives to seek real help. You would have to go back over ahundred years otherwise, to see things like this. Answer: Actually, I ran into one of those horrendous advanced breast cancers lastyear in my ER that was not the end result of alternative treatments. It wasthe end result of no treatment at all due to complete denial. The woman wasyoung, in her thirties, and had been diagnosed two years previously andreferred to a surgeon. But she had skipped the surgical consult appointment,ignored all follow-up communication, and had not surfaced again until sheshowed up in the ER seeking pain relief. Some people, when face with afrightening disease run about seeking help from every source they can find.But as my lady illustrates, others hide, pretend nothing is really wrong,and hope it all goes away. I don't know what has happened with this patient. We referred her back tothe physician who originally diagnosed the cancer. He was very gracious toaccept the referral, even though he was not obligated to. I have not askedhim about the outcome because I feel it would be a violation of patientconfidentiality.
