Home Remedies Ear

Question:
Our American Pit-bull Terrier gets reoccurring ear infections. Interested in home remedies, ear & diet?

Are pits susceptible to ear infections? Is it due to food allergies? We've tried many expensive dog foods that she doesn't seem to like as well as Pedegree. She is back on Pedegree. We've taken her to the vet many times & have an appt. even now. The ear infections come back after a little while. I hate that she has to take yet another antibiotic. She is worse now than she has ever been . Ear infection in both ears and passed worms this am. Her last RX 6 wks ago. She does not have a pen and sleeps indoors. She is not around other dogs and lives in the country if that matters. I would like advice on vitamins for her an ear wash recipe and any other advice on what may be the culprit and cure.

Answer: Well, have you ruled out ear mites? That would be a waxy substance that seems to me moving and there are over the counter miticides that are very effective.

Have you ruled out psuedomonas? That would have a very distinct odor and lots of discharge. If it is psuedomonas than a full round of Cipro and a topical treatment would be called for, otherwise it would keep coming back.

Have you ruled out food allergies? Many dogs get ear infections because of their diets.

Have you tried the Blue Power Treatment? That is a 16 oz bottle of alcohol, spill a little out, add a tablespoon of Boric Acid Powder (for the PH) and several drops of Gentian Violet and use it outside it stains. That is a pretty good reducer of some problems and fungi. You can Google it for more directions under Blue power treatment.

Also the dog seems to be reinfecting itself with worms. This could be weakening its resistance to ear infections. Try not to let the dog go where it has been going so that it does not come in contact with the worms again, after you have wormed it.
