Answer: Chicken pox:-If she is scratching them, cut her fingernails short so she can't scratch, or have her keep mittens on. Scratching can lead to an infection.-Put a handful of oatmeal and/or baking soda in bathwater. Soak towels in the bathwater. Take the towels out, allow them to cool off, and put them on the affected areas allowing them to dry on her skin. This will help with the itching.-Apply calamine lotion to the bumps or witch hazel.-If she has sores in her mouth, mix 1/2 tsp of salt into a glass and have her gargle. Flu:-Give acetaminophen or ibprofun to reduce the fever (NEVER give asprin to anyone under 21).-Again, gargle salt water to help with a sore throat.-Use a heating pad on aches (although this may aggravate the chichen pox).-If she has not been eating good, try bland and starchy foods such as dry toast, bananas, applesauce, cottage cgeese, boiled rice, and rice pudding since they are sensitive on the stomach.
