Question: Urgent Toothache Home Remedies??!? Ahh, so I've got a tooth which I need out and was due to be out tomorrow, but we had to cancel the appointment due to a family emergency and I'm currently away from home at a relatives Now I've suddenly got the most painful toothache in the tooth I'm set to have out. I know I need to see a dentist which I will when we return but as of now is there any quick remedy to numb the pain so I can last the rest of the night
Answer: I've been in dentistry for over 25 years. If your have an open decayed tooth a small cotton pellet with clove oil will stop the pain. Be sure to not get this on your gums as it will burn slightly. Take 3-4 Motrin 200 mgs if you can take it. Tylenol is not as effective without Codeine. If this gets worse go to the local ER and get meds and if they have a dental clinic they can put a sedative filling in the tooth until you get home. If the tooth is abscessed, they can get you on antibiotics which will also help the pain in 24 hours. That is really the best you can do without a dentist.
